The Five Freedoms

I recently shared this quote - one of my favorites - by Virginia Satir, a famous therapist, with a friend...and wanted to share it with you, too.

The Five Freedoms

The FREEDOM to see and hear what is here, instead of what should be, was, or will be.

The FREEDOM to say what you feel and think, instead of what you should.

The FREEDOM to feel what you feel, instead of what you ought.

The FREEDOM to ask for what you want, instead of always waiting for permission.

The FREEDOM to take risks in your own behalf, instead of choosing to be only "secure" and not rocking the boat.

Faith and lightness

One of my favorite poets, the Persian poet Hafiz, who lived approximately 1320 - 1389 and whose poetry has an enormously lightness, joy and a deep knowledge of God.


What is the difference
Between your experience of Existence
And that of a saint?

The saint knows
That the spiritual path
Is a sublime chess game with God.

And that the Beloved
Has just made such a Fantastic Move

That the saint is now continually
Tripping Over Joy
And Bursting out in Laughter
And saying, "I Surrender!"
Whereas, my dear,
I am afraid you still think
You have a thousand serious moves.

Dawdle

After the Power-days last week and yesterday's Power-day when I edited a new Quadro on "Pure Worship", I just enjoy a day on which I allow dawdling: No large projects, but trivialities. Mails, changes to my websites, along with tea and classical music.

Tip for the New Year

It is a pity when good thoughts, ideas, etc. are lost - it is better to keep it firmly ... the best place is of course "My Quadro" a 15 x 15 cm wide, thin notebook with lots of room for

* Interests
* Numbers
* Addresses
* Inspiring
* Book Excerpts
* Thoughts from periods of silence
* Sketches
* Dreams
* Ideas
* Travel
* ...
Of course you can browse in the Quadro and see if it appeals to you ... I had a lot of fun, to design it together with my graphic designer - for me one of the finest projects in the last year and I hope that it will bring you as much fun as for me.
