Summer and dreams

Summer has finally come to Berlin. I love the sun, the flowers, the warm air, the mood of people outside. Summer traditionally is the most busy time for publishing as lots of stuff should get finished before Franfurt book fair. Graphics, proofreading and printing all take their - so the writing part needs to be finished by August if one wants to avoid pressure and stress in autumn. So I am writing, writing, writing - but also taking time to be with friends, Jesus, myself and to just lie in the sun.
By the way. In the last 2 years or so I have produced 34 mini-books on faith and life (self-help books) and 11 small books...they are all doing well and people love and buy them and read them and give them away as gifts. 4 of them have now been published in Dutch and one in Japanese! But I am still looking for an English language publisher for them. You can find the whole collection (in German - sorry) on my web page....

Compliment

Today I received a review about my book SPRING. It appeared in the magazine "Family". It begins with the words:

Kerstin Hack is a champion of words

.
The rest of the text was also good and very positive, but the first sentence made me dance into the weekend!
Later I will follow the advice of a friend: "With compliments you should handle it like chewing gum: to be happy if they are fresh but not chewing too long." But now is the time to be happy.

Old Books Wanted

Today, I received a request, if I had some old Christian books to give away. Unfortunately I don´t, I just gave or sold my remaining stocks. But if you have something, what you like to give a more meaningful use, as it does in your dusty shelves here is the information of the employee:

It does not need to be the latest, and there might also be some dog-ears, but the books should still be used for hiring. We can not pay money at the moment, maybe there are books that would be discarded anyway and we would still be a good purpose.

Joy at growth steps

I am very happy. 2008 I have produced 16 new titles (12 books impulse, 4 Quadros) , of which I wrote most (14) by myself. Tough program!
2009 is different. This is not just wishful thinking, but actually justified. For the spring program, I have already promises and first, very good text samples of four fresh, unused authors who write well and competently, and who already work on impulse stapling and Quadros: Haso, Oliver Mack, Damaris Graf and Henning Rietz. Of Thorsten Huith, No. 5, I will get a test text on Monday, and then I will finally decide, whether we will make a pulse booklet on "creativity" together. And for autumn's program, there are already discussions with potential authors.
I am pleased, because for me it does not discharge itself: even correcting costs time and energy, but usually less than conception and writing. It means that the burden of production is no longer mainly on my shoulders. But I am happy also because there is a marked growth step. New writers will write - in usual Down to Earth-quality (I will take care about that) - about subjects in which I am not competent and so that brings extension - even in new readers circles. I can express myself as an author on the topics I like and which give me most joy and I can concentrate on other areas.
The publisher is mainly strategic development and marketing / acquisition. Otherwise development of the coaching area, which grows well and gives me much joy. I am pleased with the development and about life!

Communication

Phew. Yesterday I informed my customers about the new impulse booklet "communication" and was surprised by the response. I never had so much reaction by an email from me. Many people have ordered it immediately, some of them as 10-pack. That seems to be an issue for many!
